Gents’ bicycle Hermes, 1939
Made in Nyman bicycle factory in Uppsala, Sweden in 1939. Frame serial no 1217982.The bicycle has wheels and mudguards painted similar to the bikes for Swedish domestic market, but wheels are intended for beaded edge tyres (typical for Estonia). Interestingly, the bike has iridescent paint or metallic paint (already in 1939!), which became more widely used two decades later.
Bike is underused and practically new. Restored in 2010-11 (incl. replacement of some details).
